The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Here’s the 30-second TV ad from Georgians for Truth, attacking Gov. Sonny Perdue. This is what’s caused all the internal stir among Democrats. Let us know what you think.

This is why we need campaign financing reform. I don’t care which side is responsible, it’s wrong that the people who are standing up to run for office are being attacked by people who don’t have the guts to run.

The way the Democratic campaigns were going on I thought it was going to be Sonny kicking an old grandma baking an apple pie out of her house and her freezing to death because she didn’t pay her gas bill on time. Sonny didn’t pay his taxes on time, and he did raise ours so it is not that bad of a commercial. I don’t see why there is all the outrage.

Outrage because now that the dems have gone negative on advertising Day 1, GOP can reciprocate. Apparently the dems have a great deal more to fear from negative attacks when GOP goes digging…

Well it looks like he finally has a challenger to replace him… Ray “states rights” McBerry. He is all about the 1956 flag. Can you imagine if that was the sole purpose of your life, to get the flag back to stars and bars? very, very, very sad.

I see two problems with this ad:
1) The Dems already attacked Perdue on the whole “paying taxes” issue and it didn’t stop people from voting for him in 2002.
2) The ad says Perdue “tried to raise taxes” it doesn’t say he did raise taxes. What the heck are they even talking about? I don’t know and I try to follow this stuff.
Go ahead, run the ad all you want - it’s not an effective one.

Let’s see… Dems attack Bush for pushing tax credits & not raising taxes. Dems then attack Sonny for raising taxes.
Unfortunately the Dems seem to have only one strategy - attack Republicans individually without ever trying to offer any solutions. This commercial seems to be pretty much in keeping with that

If that’s the best they can come up with, the Gov. has nothing to worry about.
There is no creativity or even a solid message. It’s your typical cookie cutter political ad. The Gov.’s video that Political Insider wrote about a couple of weeks ago was far superior. It sets forth the Governor’s strenghts and his accomplishments over the last four years in a clear consise well crafted manner.
Again, if that’s the best that “Georgians for Truth” can come up with, the Governor has no worries for his job security.

I wonder if Mr. Knowles will allow the Georgia Bar to release his records to see if he has been an attorney on the up and up. And we know the history of fundraisers in the Democratic party, money from red china, illegal contributions, etc… I certainly think that Ms Oblander should wash the windows in her glass house and take a look outside, she may see her own rocks coming back at her. Hey it ain’t even May but let the games begin.

Conservativecore,
Anyone can go to the Georgia Bar website to see if Mr. Knowles is on the up and up. He is. Or, you can pay Lexis/Nexis to see every case he’s been involved in.
If you want to talk about illegal contributions, you’ve got many more recent examples in the Republican Party. STart with Republican Senator Bill Stephens from Georgia who had to pay a $14,000 penalty for his campaign contribution disclosures. Would you like more examples? I will provide them.
It is absurd to imply that this money is illegal. If you want to file an ethics complaint, go ahead and you’ll know for sure, but don’t smear an upstanding member of the bar with innuendos.

This is funny… Republicans complaining about Democrats attacking their governor. Does anyone remember the Chambliss adds attacking Max Cleland… splitting the screen with images of Cleland and Bin Laden? How about the lying Swift Boat Veterans for Truth (sic). I am sure these whining Republicans loved the attached on Democrats… mainly because it won them the White House and countless congressional/senate seats. It is the only way they can win… attack, attack, attack. It is about time Democrats start hitting back!!!

DeKalb Dem, Two things: 1) We can attack, but until the Dems can put together a message of our own, we will still lose in Georgia. 2) I consider myself a somewhat moderate to liberal Democrat, and still to this day, I can’t get over why people fuss about the Chambliss-Cleland ad. Cleland just ran a bad campaign and yet Dems continue to scream bloody murder over an ad that really wasn’t that bad. Heck, I didn’t like Cleland voting with the labor unions over national security either and it’s one of the reasons that he lost.
