Does the doubled homicide rate in Gwinnett concern you?

Violence in Gwinnett County has claimed more than twice as many lives so far this year as it did in the first five months of 2006.

There had been nine homicides in Gwinnett County by the end of May 2006, police said. The count stands at 19 dead over the same period this year, according to Gwinnett County medical examiner’s office records. Those figures include two incidents where a police officer shot someone. One man died in a police shootout near Lawrenceville on New Year’s Day, and another died after a standoff in March.

“The two biggest factors in our homicides are - and have always been - drugs and domestic violence, ” said Cpl. Darren Moloney, a Gwinnett County police spokesman. “Despite these facts, we do not notice any particular trends and it is too early in the year for any predictions.”

Let’s see… Atlanta demolishes all of its housing projects and revitalizes old neighborhoods, now their crime rate is the lowest in over thirty years.

Gwinnett allows its old neighborhoods to decay, permits new shopping centers instead of repairing the old ones that drive down property values, and now the crime rate is skyrocketing.

See a connection?

It would be nice to see actual data on these homicides. It’s easy to presume 50% would be attributable to domestic violence cases, perhaps a percentage of that number are overlapped with cases involving drugs?

Hopefully, next time around when bringing up a topic like this the AJC Gwinnett will dig a little deeper. You know, ask some uncomfortable questions, the kind that might offend political correctness?

“Despite these facts, we do not notice any particular trends and it is too early in the year for any predictions.”

How about some reality since particular trends just don’t seem to exist?

A nation that accounts for around 4% of the world’s population consumes about two-thirds of all the illegal drugs. Yes indeed Libertarians, America really can handle drugs! America has to be the most addicted nation in the world, any particular trends in substance abuse? Of course all this says is, legalize drugs and the drug related homicides will go down, right Libertarians? Well, deaths attributable to alcohol, have they declined? Time for some painful truth: Addictions are very ugly, very hard to overcome, very expensive, very stigmatizing and very destructive. The “particular trend” in drug use has to be broken. The approach to fighting the war on drugs must change direction, if not a much needed change in total declaration to fight the real menace plaguing the nation. To defeat drugs the battle must become the war on addictions, where the fight is most winnable. The message needs to change beyond just say no to one that says being addicted just isn’t cool.

So AJC Gwinnett one answer to your question is, no the doubled homicide rate in Gwinnett County does not concern me as much as the rate of addictions that actually produces these drug related deaths.

One country accounts for 80% of all illegal drugs entering the U.S., does this concern anyone, how about the AJC Gwinnett? It certainly appears the open borders lobby represented in the AJC editorial broad has no real problem with maintaining a wide open corridor with this neighboring country of a shared border? Oh and our President, remember that guy who said doing drugs supports terror? Suppose aiding and abetting those who deal in drugs and harboring them just isn’t quite the same? Sorry Mr. President, those who fail to secure our borders and ports against the trafficking of drugs are no better than the terrorists they claim to denounce.

So AJC Gwinnett in another answer to your question, no the doubled homicide rate in Gwinnett County does not concern me as much as a wide open border used to supply the poisons that are killings so many.

When reading other news articles from other sources about illegal drug grow houses no particular trends are noticeable but one can’t help believing their lying eyes when reading off all those Canadians with Spanish surnames of questionable legal residency status.

So AJC Gwinnett in a last answer to your question, no the doubled homicide rate in Gwinnett County does not concern me as much as the politically correct elitists who cloak and defend against full disclosure of relevant facts pertinent to immigration. If all the wrong people who should not be in this country are removed in the first place, then we’ll never have to read about them in the second place or read about their victims in the third, grave place.

SIMPLE ANSWER:

1)Who performs (provides the labor)for 88% of all of the new construction homes in the county/metro Atlanta?

2)The supply (over supply) is greater than demand. Therefore, new construction, while still present, has really dried-up. Lost of jobs and lack on money make people desperate.

3)Many of these people would be driving a cab - Illegally - except the county began enforcing strict of who can be a cab driver (“must speak english”). Therefore. no jobs there.

4) Most of homicides are Illegals!!!

I agree 100% with Jason. I think the quality of life unit should be tougher on these shopping center operators and land owners. If they are unable or unwilling to clean it up, knock them down and then send the bill to the owner who neglected their responsibility to the community.

Jason has the best point so far. Unfortunately we are not going in the right direction to keep homicides and violent crimes low. We can thank our county commissioners for their lack of vision or is it their connections with developers/builders that stops them from acutally endorsing, promoting, and encouraging the improvement of existing neighborhoods and upgrading existing shopping centers but instead they approve clear cutting land for more strip malls and poorly built homes. I voted against mine and he almost lost but almost will not help improve Kennerly’s district.

I voted against Kevin Kenerly too. It’s politicians like him that really has driven down Gwinnett County. The only people that are benefitting from him in District 4 are the people that LIVE near him. He only cares about the Braselton area…he treats all of the other areas like trash. My subdivision is planning to band with other subdivisions in areas that he has neglected to get his butt out of office. We almost did it last election, we are planning to try again since we have more homeowners in our area now.

I don’t think Atlanta has the lowest crime rate in thirty years with a 22% increase of murders. One thing common in metro Atlanta is the increase in our “third world” population. Look at the bulk of people involved both as victims and assailants. There is the answer to the majority of our problem. I used to be proud of living in Gwinnett, been here since 1979. Now I drive down Pleasant Hill to Hwy 29 and get depressed. First it was Buford hwy, then Jimmy Carter Blvd., now Pleasant Hill. An ever expanding ghetto. No pride, no tradition. Societies values play a role too, but beware that ghetto could be coming to your neighborhood soon!

You have to wonder if the Gwinnett county leaders read any of these forums it is a valuable tool in letting them know what they need ans should be doing to improve Gwinnett. I don’t plan to stay in Gwinnett I live in Kenerly’s district and in a neighborhood that is sitting on the fence of being really great or going ghetto. It is older but it has such fabulous potential houses sit on 1/2 acre to 3/4 acre lots lots of mature trees and 5 minutes from downtown not far from Grayson. Great access if you are going in several directions. Will our leaders take a step back a say hey we have something here or just let it go ghetto and the wonder what happened here??? I fear the ghetto is the answer. Hey leaders are your reading out there???

I joined Gwinnett Scan and was able to sign up to a email that alerts me everyone that is locked up in my zip code 30044. I sent a email to the Sheriff asking him about the illegal aliens that are arrested in our county and are the checked and shipped out. His response was I needed to contact a office at the jail. Don’t you think he would know? What is going on in this county? We have a problem with illegal aliens. They are driving with no tag or insurance. I hope you are never hit by one. I have a nice home with 1 acre. I do not want to give up my haven….but if something is not done I will be forced to leave. By the way I was born at Button Gwinnett Hospital. Been here all my life.

Well Pam the simple truth is this, our politicians are telling us it is amnesty (or if as they prefer it the penalty of a bought amnesty which probably can be waived or at the very worst a fine that can be paid off in installments) or it’s nothing but the status quo of so-called silent amnesty, because they will not and have no intentions to enforce the laws that are now on the books, which would cause many deportations to occur. So as close as I can tell what is going on in this country is the U.S. Senate and our President have no concern that U.S. citizens see this move as discrimination against them to say the least by not applying the laws of this land equally.

How so few can see that articles of our Constitution are being ran-over by government and the Senate is really troublesome.

Article 4 Section 4. The United States shall guarantee to every state in this union a republican form of government, and shall protect each of them against invasion; and on application of the legislature, or of the executive (when the legislature cannot be convened) against domestic violence.

Not only are we losing our nation of laws “the guaranteed republican form of government”, we are not being protected against foreign invasion.

Article 1 Section 8. To establish a uniform rule of naturalization, and uniform laws on the subject of bankruptcies throughout the United States

There is absolutely nothing uniform in our rule of naturalization when illegal immigration is allowed or permitted to exist while legal immigration is being played for a rented fool. Granting amnesty in any form for illegal immigration while creating another separate but equal pathway for citizenship to accommodate foreign governments, businesses, lobbyists, politicians seeking votes and illegal aliens to parallel the traditional legal pathway that has existed and proven valid over the years to produce good citizens that played by all the rules is going backwards to a very blink chapter in our nations history.

Article 1 Section 7. All bills for raising revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives; but the Senate may propose or concur with amendments as on other Bills.

Now after last years failed amnesty attempt this new S 1348 once again misguided as the last revenue raising bill is originating in the U.S. Senate. Hopefully the House will stop it again for this reason if nothing else.

Pam I’ve had suspect illegals smash-up two of my vehicles – one fled the scene - but I can tell you in all honesty, that means nothing to me compared to the damage being done to our Constitution all because some politicians want votes to keep power and corporations and businesses want to control wages by flooding the labor market with cheap imported replacement labor.

As the Oracle of Omaha, Warren Buffet said: This is class warfare, my side is winning and it shouldn’t be.

So while some may think I’ve gone over the top in calling this S 1348 amnesty bill treason, what else can you call an act of betrayal when in war and your own government and countrymen are aiding and assisting in your demise?

You can run Pam but tell me this as I have asked the many Mexicans I know. Where can I or you run, what border can I or you cross to find our relief valve, our America, once this one is gone?

You are correct. What can I do? How am I suppose to live here not knowing Spanish? There is stores around here that have only Spanish on their atm machines. Some of the stores I will not enter because I do not even know what they sell. I feel that maybe Canada is a better place for me now.

Has anyone considered that taxes play a role in this? As the cost of living has risen most of the large land owners in Gwinnett were either forced out or bought out by development. You had big business married with government, and that equals crony capitalism.

This foisted a transient dynamic on the local culture. Where you had land owners that actually took care and wanted their land, you now have transient migrants and expanding ghetto.

Patrick has a great point. I am convinced the County Commishes along with the other officals are more concerned about their relationships and the needs of developers and builders. Gotta get strip mall # too many to count built fast. The county still has potential to be fabulous but that opportunity will soon be gone!

Has anyone noticed that there are not any responses from our esteemed Gwinnett gov’t officials. Clueless as usual.
