Is this the Political Year of the Woman?
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Elections this week in Auburn, Ga. resulted in an all-female city council and a new female mayor.
The Georgia Municipal Association says it knows of no other place in Georgia where the city fathers are actually city mothers.
And with talk of our nation possibly electing its first female president, we have to wonder if this is in fact, the Year of the Woman when it comes to politics.
What do you think? And should gender really matter?

Yes, 2007 is the year of the woman in Auburn, Georgia. And I hope this is good for Auburn.
Will next year, 2008, be the year of the woman? I predict it will be the year of the woman voter. Will it be the year of the woman candidate?
That vote is 263 days away. Even if it does not rain a lot of water will pass under our bridges before then.

What is it about the news media and the political leaders in this country? Why do they always need to separate us into groups and divide us? Or is that really the plan. Maybe if we’re too busy being divided, we won’t notice all the corruption and lies these two groups seek to pass off on us.
Why would next year be the year of the woman any more than any other year? Is it because we are supposed to believe that with Hillary running every other woman in the country would want to run, or would have as good a chance? Are we supposed to believe that every woman in america thinks alike? I know thanks to the leaders of the major parties and folks like Jessie Jackson that every person of color in this country votes the same. What’s that, they don’t?? Every woman doesn’t vote the same either? Get outa here! You mean its actually possible for people to have independent thoughts? I mean other than the folks that watch Fox news. That can’t be right. I thought only white males were allowed to think and vote independantly. The media never lumps us into a “group.” (Except to blame us for everything.) Nobody ever expects all of us to vote the same. Only an idiot would. So why do they think that all blacks will vote alike, or all hispanics, or all women? A better question to ask is why does the media spend so much time trying to convince groups that they should?? I guess its because they prefer to be in the position of selecting candidates for us, rather than us being in control. Just look at their dismay over Ron Paul’s meteoric rise and success.
Hilliary is a totalitarian/socialist. She has aspired for the power to rule the world for some time now. She only stayed with Bill because she knew a divorce would ruin her political career. The women who won in Athens I am sure are nothing like her, and I am sure they were nothing like each other. The ones who were elected were the ones who convinced the voters they were the best. In every race there are going to be different personalities, different stands on the issues of the day, and a different electorate to please.
However many women get elected what we should all be hoping for as concerned american citizens is that they as well as the men who get elected, (and the blacks, hispanics, eskimos, native americans, and every other “group”) have the ethics and honor to live up to their oaths to support and defend the constitution of the united states or their state constitution as applicable. This is such a rare thing that any move in this direction would be a plus.
Let’s all work together to make this upcoming election season not the “year of the woman,” but the “year of the ethical”. instead - gender and color be damned.

BFD. A small hick town is run by women, and slightly over half (that’s a majority for you libs in Decatur) of people polled said they will not vote for Hillary. Keep dreaming.
Typical liberal AJC bull squeeze. Women this, minorities that, gays this, transgendered that. And you clowns wonder why your “news”paper is on the decline. People are sick of it, and this is yet another example of the crap that comes out of the Atlanta Communist Manifesto.

Well said MrLiberty. Think about it: if libs didn’t attempt to separate us into groups, there’s be no need for libs - or the AJC. Not a week goes by without the Atlanta Urinal Constipation bringing up sexual orientation, race, or gender.
