Anti-Green campaign button in Gwinnett?

Another political junkie last week gave us what appears to be an anti-Lorraine Green campaign button.

We’re not entirely sure that’s what it is. The lapel pin doesn’t provide much information about where it came from.

It contains nothing more than the word “GREEN” in green letters with an orange international “Do Not” symbol slashed in front of it.

The words “made in Mexico” are stamped in tiny print on the side.

Green said Friday she hadn’t seen one.

Her 2008 primary election opponent, Charles Bannister, said it’s not one of his.

We’re not sure what impact the anti-Green button might have. Would it enrage Mexico detractors or tip Gwinnett’s Irish vote (if there is one)?

Maybe it has nothing to do with next year’s race for chairman of the Gwinnett County commissioners. Perhaps it was made by somebody who simply doesn’t like the color, or the political party that goes by the same name.

Whatever reason, we wouldn’t advise wearing one on St. Patrick’s Day.

Is it because the development of Pleasant Hill has only resulted in the entire area being bought up by Asians and Mexicans. Isn’t Green in charge of that area of Gwinnett? What happened to it being the next Atlantic Station? It looks like Chinatown right now.

If she’s being sniped at this early on, she must be doing lots of things right. Anyway, kids, would y’all want to live in a county wherein who was allowed to live where was dictated by one person? If only she could return my hair and youth to me, life would be perfect, but aside from failing to do that she’s been the best thing to happen to Gwinnett since sliced bread.

Paul take a hint, there is a fine line between being a supporter and what seems to be a lapdog, one can do more harm than good.

And Paul you sniped at me on many occasions, thanks I must be doing a bang-up job!

Hey - maybe illegal immigrants made them, protesting the “you can’t work for the county” law. Or maybe “Bannister” just wouldn’t fit on a button, or they couldn’t spell it. In any event, negativity sucks.

If it doesn’t make any sense, then it is probably Bannister. Remember, he is the one who sent out a copy of his property tax bill to prove he doesn’t own property in Gwinnett County for the last election stunt.

I dunno what’s happening with Mrs Green but I see her on public access just giving away wooded acreage for big construction moguls to build whatever they want. She could very well be on the take like most dirty GA politicians. Hell, the former mayor was convicted on corruption charges. Three cops were arrested yesterday for raping a woman. There’s problems here.

Good thing I bought a nice handgun. I won’t have anything to do with these corrupt sunsabitches, and that’s final.

Sure, it stinks, but they owned the property anyway, and they wanted to make a buck - I might have done the same id I had owned it.

Sad to see the usual contingent still straying off topic and making it personal - I think someone has a crush on someone.

Considering these buttons are made in Mexico and now that this fact has been made known by you, Ben (thank you, thank you, thank you), I’d say it works to Commissioner Green’s benefit. When the country that is profiting the most from illegal immigration is the source of manufacturing disparagement against someone being elected it usually means, as in this case, the opposition has suffered a loss of illegally gotten profits.

Suffice to say: Mexico, the illegal aliens from Mexico and those who support them, have probably just paid Commissioner Green the highest compliment possible in the eyes of most Gwinnett County voters.

Keep up the good work Mexico and all other ally illegal alien cohorts. It only makes our job that much easier to elect excellent candidates loyal to U.S. citizens and the United States of America, like Commissioner Green.

Tom… your statement that Bannister sent out a copy of his property taxes “to prove he doesn’t own property in Gwinnett County” shows that the rest of whatever you would say to be nonsensical as well.

The law requires a candidate for Commissioner to live within the district in which they are running (US Congress is the only exception to this rule). As I recall the reason that the property tax bill was sent out was because Bannister was paying more taxes than Hill because of some “farm” type exemption that Hill was taking advantage of… even though Hill’s property appraised for several times the value of Bannisters… I think that that was what it was about.

Anyway. MHS’s explanation (which is the most logical and pretty well reasoned…) is the most likely.

As far as best since slice bread? I personally think that someone that is a lap dog to developers the way that she is is hardly even the best thing since yesterday….

MHS… Don’t let my complement go to your head however.

Getting legislation passed that cannot be enforced (Gwinnett is struggling with how they are possibly going to enforce her ordinance) is hardly something that should be considered a feather in her cap.

I’m as anti-illegal alien as anyone and want them all to hit the border (I don’t even care at this point if it is just the Gwinnett Border!) but proposing legislation that can’t be enforced without its own minor bureaucracy is hardly progress.

There are much better ways to skin this cat and get them out. I just hope that someone smart comes up with a solution so we don’t get more unenforcable so-called solutions from Green.

Either way you want to look at it David , broken windows and the new ordinance had a positive affect. Commissioner Green should be thanked for that, it’s more than the others have been willing to initiate. I’m not so sure a minor bureaucracy would be all that bad if it would do the job all the other unwilling bureaucracies won’t do.

The State is the next best level and the State actually can do something more, alot more, through professional and occupational licensing. Whatever increase in manpower it took to do enforcement would likely be offset twofold: Increased tax revenue collection and decreased services used by illegal aliens. Not to mention less foreign debt created via remittances sent out of this country.

The State actually can enforce it too and it would stand any constitutional challenge because of the 10th amendment. The State can license anything but someone’s rights and no unauthorized workers have any rights to work anywhere in the United States.
