What do you think of a Gwinnett all-star game?
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
The Gwinnett Touchdown Club agreed Tuesday night to create an annual all-star game to be played one week after the state finals.
Called the Rivalries of Gwinnett All-Star Football Game, the inaugural event will take place Friday, Dec. 21, at Brookwood Community Stadium. Tickets will be $5.
Sixty-six players — at least two from each school and no more than six — will participate.
What are the pluses and minuses of a Gwinnett all-star game?

I can see where it is a good idea for Gwinnett athletes, but I suspect the rest of the state and those who organize the North-South all-star game won’t like it,not even a little bit.
Having an all-star game outdoors in late December might be iffy. Hope the weather cooperates.

Anything that promotes the high school athlete and gets them exposure to the college coaches is good. Anything that enhances the self esteem of the players who are honored by being selected is good. Great idea.

News flash: If the players haven’t been to combines and visited colleges, this won’t do much good. The only thing it will do is make them subject to an injury. And for those already committed to a college, it could be terrible. This is all about the coaches and nothing for the players.

This past year the season started 2 weeks later than usual because of concern playing in the heat. That resulted in the season ending later leaving many players in trouble with grades and less time to study for exams. An All Star game will further reduce the time for academics. Perhaps they could require these so called All Star Players to be in good standing in ALL their classes.

This is a great idea,i’m from san antonio,tx and every year in may we have a all-star game featuring some of the top players in the city. This is a great opportunity for college coaches to see some players whom they have not had a chance to see.We practice one week before the game with alot of scrimmaging the first 3 days.this event has been going on for the last 20 years or so and many kids have gotten scholarships from playing in this game where as they probably would not have gotten one.I think this is a great idea,i think that each county should have one.

This isn’t a meat market but more of a chance to feature Gwinnett kids one more time. It is a great PR opportunity.

I think it is a pretty exciting idea. I also think the kids that are a part of it would love to play in it…and if the kids don’t want to, they won’t have to.
My only concern is that one team looks like it should be better than the other…at least for this year.
