What are Gwinnett’s biggest problems?

Gwinnett County Commission Chairman Charles Bannister delivers his State of the County address Thursday. The issues he’ll cover include traffic, economic growth, revitalization, water availability and public safety.

What do you think are the biggest problems in Gwinnett? How would you rate our schools? And what about the quality of life here? Has it changed over the years?

Overdevelopment residentially, which causes the others problems. I fail to see why landowners who had large amounts of land, their heritage, taken away from them to construct houses 10 feet apart or less.

Illegal immigrants. Plain and simple.

If Gwinnett County would enforce the immigration laws, Gwinnett might be a pretty good place to live. I know it used to be!

Overdevelopment along with county leaders who don’t address the situation is the #1 problem, followed closely by apathathic voters who will complain about traffic, increasing crime and illegal immigration but won’t get off their lazy asses when it’s time to vote.

The MAJOR problem that will affect most homeowners is depreciating property values or in some areas appreciation that is less than it should be especially for a hot market like Atlanta.

Let’s face it 80 % of us will need to rely heavily on our home values/equity to help fund our retirement and we are letting our county leaders reach into our pockets and take it away.

Gwinnett county residents need to stand up and make our elected officials work for us not vice versa.

Yellow1990, you hit the nail on the head. If the laws are there, why aren’t they being enforced?

I think that if Danny Porter is a problem at all, he is the least of the problem. I don’t think that he tries to prosecute people that are not breaking any laws. I wish he worked for immigration.

Yes the illegal immigrants in Gwinnett and the increasing traffic is very major issues, but also the job market has went down dramatically, other areas such as Alpharetta and Buckhead have very good job markets. There need to be more available jobs for American citizens.
