Your answer book to living in Gwinnett

The AJC Gwinnett News is publishing the annual Gwinnett Answer Book in March.

If you have a question about living in Gwinnett, please send it along and we’ll try to answer it.

Maybe you want to know where to get a car tag. Or whether you need a building permit to expand a deck on your home.

Send your questions to kjensen@ajc.com or post them here. We’ll work to find your answer. Questions: 770-263-3631.

Remember this is meant to be a chance to educate, not debate pros and cons of Gwinett.

I notice all the vents that were here all gone (all negative). If I can’t say how I feel, then I got nothing to say.

I wonder if the Mansion Madam can meet me in Reno for a legal hook-up? Me thinks Mr. Porter is just frustrated.

By no prob

Notice no one is posting. No debate on the cons = nothing to say about Gwinnett. Don’t move here people. It is not a good place to live, trust me.

What, no questions, people?? Here’s a hint, it you need a car tag, get it in another county, legally, by moving there. You don’t want to live here, and that’s for sure. Hear me now, believe me later.

Aparently this blog is becoming a hangout for unhappy and negative people who are unable to get a vent published.

You should read and understand Jensen’s last paragraph before posting here.

Yes, there are some unhappy people on this blog. They should be if they live in Gwinnett County.

Has there ever been public hearings on timing the traffic lights in Gwinnett County? And if so, what was the outcome?

My question is: Are all the roads in Gwinnett County being repaired at one time? It is so hard to get anywhere in the county without being stopped by a flagger, or having your lane suddenly come to an end.

Matt and Hello have two great questions that we can try to answer in the Answer Book. This is a great opportunity to ask questions that we could take to sources who might be able to do something to help with the quality of life here. Thinks roads, schools, entertainment, any of lifestyle topic keeping in mind we are a family newspaper. thanks Kris Jensen

I agree with Hello. All of the roads in Gwinnett County are under repair, so there is no getting around. Specifically, the work being done at Lawrenceville-Suwanee and Satellite Boulevard. They have arranged to have all lanes choke down to one (doesn’t matter if you’re turning right, left, or going straight. Then they have the traffic light set to let about (3) cars through at a time. There is a police officer posted there, but he is just chilling in his car. I’m not sure why he is even there. It is horrible, and has been going on for weeks. I am really getting ready to move from here just because I can’t get anywhere in a reasonable amount of time.

OK, you people are scaring me. I’m planning on moving up from FL and heard Gwinett Co was the best. What the heck???

Confused- don’t let these people scare you. Every area has its challenges and those who want to work productively to change things for the better don’t usually have time to post on forums. This is a great place to live and with the support of new residents and old alike, Gwinnett should be a place everyone is proud to call home.

I did find out that a local company was contracted to studying traffic and timing the lights in Gwinnett. From a very reliable source, it could cost about $10,000 per intersection to implement which means it would probably only be rolled out in select areas of the county.
