Sound off on the election
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
We want to hear from Gwinnettians on national, statewide and local races. Any surprises? What do you think of the congressional balance of power? What about the Perdue victory? Were you passionate about any of the issues in Gwinnett?

The election results nationwide have indicated the people’s voting for a change in their political leaders.
Voters are disgusted with the Republicans catering to special interests of the military-industrial sectors and, of course, the energy sector since our President’s family wealth is rooted in the energy sector.
“Power corrupts” and the majority of our present political leadership is a prime example of the truth to these words.
Here in Gwinnett County, GA the Republican leadership has served the real estate special interests without providing hardly any infastructure (road improvements, public transportation and a education system) sufficient and now in place to support the significant population gains this county has experienced especially during the last 10 years.
Voters should have approved Marta to serve up to the Gwinnett Mall area during the 1990s. Now they are experiencing the results of this rejection of having Marta serve this area: gridlock along I-85 and the roads feeding into I-85.
I have lived here since the late 1980’s and have seen the quality of life steadily decrease during the last 10 years.
I was relieved when my children no longer had to experience the crowded classes of Gwinnett’s school system when they graduated 4 to 6 years ago. Due to the high growth rate during the 1990s, my children went elementary schools at 3 separate locations. They went to the largest middle school in the Southeast and close to the top in the USA! Of course, high school was crowded with large classes.
Although Gwinnett County has become a mega for shoppers here and the other nearby counties, the residents here are now experiencing the negative aspects of overgrowth from the lack of infastructure being built and in place in conjunction with our increases in population.

As a former resident of Lawrenceville and the brother of the Mayor Elect, I am disappointed I didn’t know he was running. Our mother died in 1998, leaving our family farm between her 5 children, divided equally. He and Rick, who ran for Labor Com. last cycle, forged her signature to gain the entire farm, giving it to them. I have her will and the deed where this happened. They told my son my mom left them the farm, a lie from the beginning, changing what we all know is the truth. Now, their children get the farm and none of them even plan on being buried there. This is your new mayor, if he would do this to his own brothers and sisters, what will he do to Lawerenceville?

After reading my reaction to the election of my brother and praying about my personal situation, I regret my comments on this avenue and hope my brother will forgive me for any harm this could cause. I try everyday to live a Christian life and I have asked him to forgive a debt in the past, one that he has a hard time doing and this could be the reason he took the action he did. At any rate, I must forgive him and my other brother for all things, and I thank them for all they have done for me in the past. They are my brothers and our personal lives should never end up in the headlines. So, to Rick and Rex, please forgive me for airing what is not a public issue and I pray God gives me the power to forgive you as He has forgiven me. In your new post, my His hand touch you life and guide you to do what is right for the city of Lawerenceville.
