What do you think about the Ga. 316 extension?
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Nearly 700 people packed an elementary school cafeteria in Lawrenceville Tuesday to learn about the biggest road project to hit the area in years.
For some, Gwinnett County’s proposed 6.1-mile Sugarloaf Parkway extension will mean it’s time to move — either because the road is due to slice through their property, or because they don’t fancy having a four-lane highway next door.
What do you think about the project?

Build it! Yeah the Lawrenceville Loop, I always wanted to live inside the perimeter. The traffic along Simonton, New Hope, etc. it unbearable. With the hundreds of new houses being built it will only get worse.

It seems the congestion that has initiated the building of an extension will not be alleviated by the extension proposal I’ve seen. Why not use $85 million to build bridges across Hwy. 316 or for intersection improvements along U.S. 29 between L’ville and Lilburn. Perhaps use it to improve mass transit systems. I don’t believe building loops is the cure for future traffic congestion. Look what the current Sugarloaf Pkwy or I-285 has created. I don’t think we want to spread these potential problems to more areas of the county. GA DOT seems to have a similar opinion as well.

Thank goodness they are looking to do something with this area. With all the growth, something has to be done with the traffic.Bridges across 316 are likely a state project and will probably be next after the 316/I-85 mess is finished.Public/mass trans are another story altogether that I don’t know that there is a good answer for.

I think Gwinnett is wasting time and money. Get with the outer perimeter, widen 316, do something besides take land and raise the crime rates. This will do nothing but create more havic.

I can’t believe that Gwinnett County actually has land that they haven’t built on yet. Cut down those trees. I didn’t want to breathe anyway.

The tax payers money needs to be put to better use by widening GA 20 and improving the flow of traffic on 316.

Traffic is terrable because you all are like animals. Stop having so many goofy kids and we might have less of a problem.
