‘Operation Schoolhouse’ was a huge success
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Sunday (April 29) was one of those remarkable days.
Thanks to generous donations to Operation Schoolhouse Iraq, we collected and packed more than 100 boxes of school supplies, clothing, shoes, toys and sporting goods for shipment to Company H’s adopted Shababit village.
My sincere appreciation goes out to everyone who contributed to our cause.
Special thanks to:
Peachtree Road United Methodist Church — for facilitating the collection event, contributing to shipping costs and for wholehearted support of the effort, especially Judy Askew and Anne French.
Quinn MacDougald — for celebrating his 13th birthday by asking his friends to contribute toys and clothes to the drive in lieu of birthday presents. Quinn also contributed his own money to the effort and amazed us all with his generosity.
5th grade students at Atkinson Elementary School in Newnan — for collecting supplies and monetary donations from students and faculty. They are sending a signed banner from the school to the Iraqi village along with the items collected.
Susan and Bill Loftis — for collecting and contributing supplies and monetary donations and volunteering at the event.
Tracy and David Aiken — for collecting monetary donations from their soccer league and donating a truck full of school supplies and toys.
The wives of Company H — Judy Burket, Sybil Laudermilk, Tiffany Beining and Jennifer Russell — for collecting supplies and volunteering at the event.
The Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts and all the others — for volunteering at the event.
Thank you all for your time and contributions to make this event a success!
