Burglars crash van through front of store

Published on: 08/30/07 1:22 PM

Burglars drove a minivan through the front doors of a southwest Atlanta convenience store early Thursday in a failed burglary attempt, police said.

Atlanta police spokesman James Polite said an officer drove up on the incident just after the van had crashed into the Quick Stop in the 1900 block of Perkerson Road about 1:30 a.m.

Two suspects jumped into a second van and drove off at a high rate of speed, Polite said. The officer chased the van, and the suspects crashed into a bridge support on Campbellton Road.

The suspects, whose names have not been released, ran from the wrecked vehicle, but were taken into custody after a short foot chase, Polite said.
