Teen charged in Cobb hit and run

Cobb County police investigators on Wednesday arrested a teenager for a weekend hit-and-run wreck that killed an elderly driver.
Russell C. Godsey, 75, of Marietta, was turning left from Bells Ferry Road onto Cobb Parkway shortly after 6 p.m. Sunday when his Dodge pickup truck was hit by a Ford Windstar that was southbound on Cobb Parkway and ran the red light at the intersection, police said.
The driver of the Windstar got out of the minivan and ran away.
Godsey was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he died on Tuesday.
Israel Ruiz, 17, was arrested Wednesday and charged with first-degree vehicular homicide, hit and run, disregarding a traffic control device, having no driver’s license and driving an unregistered vehicle.
