Mother charged in death of 2-year-old

An Atlanta woman was arrested Wednesday for the death earlier this month of her 2-year-old daughter.
Shandrell Banks, 29, was charged with murder and cruelty to children, and taken to the Fulton County Jail, according to Atlanta police spokesman Joe Cobb.
He said the toddler, Nateyonna Banks, was admitted to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Hughes Spalding with life-threatening injuries on Nov. 8, and died the following day.
An autopsy by the Fulton County Medical Examiner determined that the child died of blunt force trauma, and further investigation revealed that the girl’s mother beat the child, causing the fatal injuries, Cobb said.
