Teen charged for stealing golf cart

A teenage runaway and a female companion, both 15, face charges after police discovered the two Monday in a stolen golf cart.
The runaway had been missing from his home since leaving it Nov. 10 after showing his mother a handgun, Peachtree City police said.
The boy was taken to Clayton County Youth Detention Center on charges of being an unruly juvenile, motor vehicle theft, minor in possession of a firearm and having a suspended license, police said. Police said the boy’s driving permit had been suspended because he quit going to school. The boy admitted stealing the cart from Camden apartments, police said.
The girl, who was driving the cart, was cited for an operation regulation violation and released to her parents.
The stop was made inside Wynnmeade subdivision by a patrolling police officer.
