Officer injured in DeKalb accident

A DeKalb police motorcycle officer was in stable condition after a car struck him on Covington Highway on Wednesday, police spokesman Herschel Grangent said.
Grangent said an elderly woman was driving a burgundy Chevrolet Impala which struck the motorcycle about 2:45 p.m. just east of I-285, Grangent said. He said witnesses reported the woman made an improper lane change. The woman pulled into a parking lot and notified police, he said.
Grangent said the officer’s injuries appeared not to be life-threatening. Neither the woman nor the officer were immediately identified.
