18 students arrested at Morrow High School

Clayton County police arrested 18 Morrow High School students Wednesday morning on charges of fighting, obstructing officers and disrupting public schools.

Assistant Chief Jeff Turner said 13 female students were hauled into the school office before 8 a.m. after they were caught fighting behind the vocational building. While officials sorted out that group, two male students began fighting in front of the school, Turner said, and were also arrested.

Two other male students were “running their mouths” and refused to return to class so police arrested them, he said.

Outside, a fifth male student was speeding through the school parking lot, Turner said. When officers stopped him, they found he had no license to drive and he was arrested, Turner said.

One female student is 17 but Turner could not provide her name. The rest were 15 and 16 years old and are not identified because of their age.

“There were no weapons involved and it was not believed to be gang-related,” Turner said.
