The pregnant girlfriend of a Clayton County inmate has been charged with trying to smuggle in ecstasy into the jail a month after pleading with a judge to allow the inmate into a work release program.
Shauna R. Dance, 19, of Riverdale and her inmate boyfriend, Christopher Ryan Pressley, 22, of Fairburn, were arrested and charged Monday with crossing the guard line with narcotics and violation of the Georgia Controlled Substances Act, Clayton County Sheriff Victor Hill said.
Hill said deputies found Dance in possession of ecstasy when she came to the jail to visit Pressley.
Pressley was serving a first offender probation for a March 2004 conviction of terroristic threats and acts, leaving the scene of an accident and misdemeanor possession of marijuana, according to Clayton Superior Court records.
Pressley violated that probation in February, court records show, and he was sentenced in March to five months in jail.
On March 14, Dance and Pressley wrote to Clayton Superior Court Judge Matthew Simmons, telling him Dance was pregnant. The couple pleaded with Simmons to allow Pressley into a work release program so that he could return to work and prepare for the baby.
