Oops, wrong door
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
John Louis, his girlfriend and 3-month-old daughter were in their Lawrenceville home Wednesday night when the front door came tumbling down. In rushed Gwinnett County police drug investigators.
The officers were looking for a meth dealer, a suspect they’d had under surveillance. But Wednesday night, somehow, they broke through the wrong door at the wrong address.
Mistakes — they happen in any and every line of work. Police officers are not immune, but you have to wonder what, exactly, led to this faux pax by dedicated officers operating under a “no-knock” warrant.
Maybe some procedural change will be put in place to ensure the officers are at the right address, pursuing the proper suspects.
It’s an unfortunate incident for the officers, who have apologized profusely. The department has taken full responsibility for the incident. And it was a horrific experience for James, his girlfriend Heather James and their child.
In the end, though, the good guys snagged the bad guy: Efrain Pedruza, 31, was arrested that same night without incident; $24,000 in cash was seized. Pedruza is being held on related charges in Gwinnett County Jail.

I am glad to see the police “step up” and take responsibility for the mistake. That’s the good news.
The bad news? No knock warrants. For every hundred that are executed without incident, there will be the one that goes wrong and hits the news like this one did.
Don’t be surprised if a lawsuit is in the making by the innocent victims.

I love the owners statement, “If you had the house under surveillance for three months, why did you come here?”. Good point, did they immediately invade the other house? Did they post an officer at the families front door to protect them until the county or private board decided which company the couple could use to fix the door?
Sadly it sounds like the 90 year old woman who was killed by police with a “No Knock” warrent, hope it wasn’t as bad a cover-up as that one was.
For safety I always keep a pistol within reach, these days and times you can never be too careful. Kick down my door I’ll protect my family without question.
Scumbags have used the “No Knock” line to gain entry into other homes just to rob them, like the case in Atlanta, someone innocent may die, it could be either side.

The only reason those innocent people are alive today is because the baby got the drop on the cops when they busted through the door. “I dont know, I just smelled it.” the baby remarked later. “There was something strange in the air that night, my friends, so I made sure my my mini-smith and wesson was next to my johnson and johnsons. You know, after this, every time I see a cop my trigger finger gets real itchy”
Apparently, the baby’s ambush of the intruding police force prevented a tragedy, and the families of the cops have expressed thanx that the baby acted so humanely by not firing a single shot.
One of the cops said later, “You know, when we looked up and saw the baby pointing that cannon at us, we thought to ourselves, cops, if we move one muscle, we’re dead men. For a minute, we tried to talk out way out of it. We suggested that the baby just let us go. let us go. hell, we outnumbered him, so he could just say we jumped him, and it’s not like we’d stick around to call him a liar….”
The parents are retaining an attorney.

Good thing the baby the packin, one jumpy cop seeing movement out of the corner of his/her eye may have taken the baby out.

That’s true, BW, but the baby spoke first, before the cop even could move and said, “That’s right…. Go for it….. Fall apart”.
A few seconds passed. Nobody moved, and then the baby said, “Walk softly, boys.”
The cops put their guns down real folksy like, and nice. One of the cops even pulled out a blunt and placed it between the baby’s lips, saying, “Sensemilla!”
The baby took down names, man. Why cant you accept it? Sometimes, being a cop aint all it’s cracked up 2B. dig?

Brucie the Socialist Dumbass suddlenly becomes Dirty Brucie. Armed with a pistol and willing to put daylight into anybody who dares threaten his supply of Mexican “chorizo” at the local Quik Trip.
Personally, I got have a CCW and carry at all times. Scumbags just don’t come to your house and knock on the door.
As for the police, these kind of mistakes should never happen and I hope somebody is on suspension very soon. Thank God they got the scumbag who was dealing meth.
I wonder was Senor Pedruza’s Immigration status is.
Care to be journalist and look into that Blubbering Badie?
Yeah. Didn’t think so.

Hey, “What Recession Kid?”, you call me a Socialist? Do I support the county government that decides who will pick-up your trash, using a private board or who will build a stadium with taxpayers money yet for another private corporation? Seems instead of electing officals in Gwinnett, we should hire them, they all seem to be private corporations.
“What Recession Kid”, look up Socialism, see if me fighting against it or them deciding what is good for you is the real thing, when government takes over your mind, which would explain your defense of the economy, so thanks for yet another laugh.

This kind of police misbehavior is disgusting. If your going to take someone’s door down and enter their home without knocking, you as the one taking the door down have an absolute responsibility to make sure you hit the right door not take someone else’s word for it.
So what is the difference in a home invasion robbery where the bad guys hit the wrong house acting like police and a home invasion by the police acting like police?
With Gwinnett needing to cut the budget I got a place for them to start, the drug unit. The law suit from this one is going to cost the county no telling how much money. All over the so called war on drugs makes it even more discussing.
I think about what if this happened at my house. I know there is no reason for the police go bust through my door; if someone does it must be a bad guy not a cop. But the first thing they would do is kill my dog, she sleeps inside has a face that looks like a wolf, would be raising all kinds of noise and would be viewed as a threat. That would give me just enough time to do something. I don’t have fancy guns like the police or bad guy home invaders but I do have my deer hunting slug gun, I imagine I would start shooting at who broke in and killed my dog.
This guy needs to sue big, if for nothing else to protect the rest of us. I guess they forgot Katherine Johnson already.

The Gwinnett County police knock down the door of an innocent family, and all those people get is the door fixed and an apology? It was blamed on “human error”. How did that happen? If they had been investigating for three months, how did they go to the wrong house? Seems like the Gwinnett taxpayers aren’t getting their money’s worth from their police. I’d sure be wondering about the quality of their investigation if they can’t get the right house.
In the press release they claim there was not deliberate malfeasance. Well then what was it, incompetence? These officers were prepared to use deadly force. They should be held to a higher standard than being allowed to hide behind a lame excuse like “human error”. It’s not like Mr. Louis didn’t get his mail one day. He and his family were assaulted in their home by men with guns. If you pointed a gun at a Gwinnett officer, you’d be shot. If you survived that, you’d be arrested and jailed. The police don’t tolerate guns being pointed at them, why should innocent families?
The Gwinnett police spokesperson said that “no intrusive search was ever executed”. Let me explain something, those officers went way beyond intrusive when the battering ram hit the front door. What has that got to do with the assault on an innocent family? It’s like they are trying to say it’s not that bad, we didn’t kill anyone. Perhaps the spokesperson would feel differently if it were her home and family.
It took the killing of an innocent 92 year old Atlanta woman to get people to look at these kinds of actions and ask questions. I hope it doesn’t cost another innocent life to get police leadership to get it right, and right the first time.

Isn’t that how that 94 year old lady got shot 40 times? The erosion of our 4th Amendment rights is what makes this kind of mistake possible. The 4th Amendment is the most important in our Constitution. When the 4th goes the rest follow. And all you morons that think the 2nd Amendment is the only one that matters, remember that it is the 4th that protects you from having your door kicked down in the middle of the night by all the government boogie man liberal gestapo types that have you wetting your bed when they come to take your beloved guns from you.

The good sunni and shia muslims in Iraq were subject to no knock grenades, rocket launcher attacks, and rifle fire during our liberation and occupation, and purification of their precious bodily fluids. Untold Thousands were killed during the last five or six years.
But I’m sure we had a warrant for every door and so they were surely all guilty of being Iraqis. But we did save the Iraqis from the Iraqis, that’s for sure, that’s for DANG sure.
The reason everything is so ruff right now in the world can be traced back to president bush’s little talk with his god about Iraq and listening to the divine message which came in loud and clear to W, him being born again and all.
W: the lame duck prez. “Attack Iraq”. The Attack Iraq Lame Duck President.
“Attack Iraq”.

Word,
You are an idiot on the level of Brucie.
It’s muslims killing muslims in Iraq, not US soldiers.
Before you attack Bush, I suggest you read about the mass graves found in Iraq for the ones who dared question Saddam.
Though if you’re so angry you have to do something, I would suggest conducting a “mock no-knock warrant” at Dirty Brucie’s house.
Though I have to warn you. You will be tazed and molested. But you might like it.

Again LT5000 starts with an actual subject of debate and finishes off with sexually deviant comments directed at somebody else.
It is always self righteous people who accuse others of improper behavior who are the actual offenders. And those who always put others down are usually mad at their own lack of achievement.

May I offer a suggestion, if WE ALL ignore LT the “What Recession Kid”, maybe, I doubt it, he’ll find new columns to be a pain in the a** with..
Now some may preach the Freedom of Speech, fine, no one has cut him off, he has all the freedom given to all and each of us to act like a**’s.
But no can destroy a discussion like LT the “What Recesion Kid” can, some may agree or disagree, but those are the facts.
Let’s have some fun ignore him and press on with the real issues.

I am sure the Gwinnett Police will distort facts and play this down to save face. Mr. Lewis or his girlfriend must have somehow aggrevated the GCPC. They have the attitude of we are never wrong and we are prosecutor, judge and jury due to the fact they happen to be in your sorry face.
