The ultimate U.S. racial barrier has been broken
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Robert Sample of Norcross made history just like President-elect Barack Obama.
He voted for the first time in his life.
“Last Thursday was the first time I voted,” the 63-year-old Army veteran said. “I looked at [Obama’s] character, listened to what he had to say, and I went and voted. Everything he said made sense to me. I have never heard any candidate talk like that. It’s not about color. It’s about what you are going to do when you are in there.”
How true.
President-elect Barack Obama has broken the ultimate U.S. racial barrier with his defeat of Republican John McCain. He has pledged to be a president for all America and rightly so.
Clear challenges are ahead. We still are mired in two wars. The economy remains in the tank. The free-market system needs life support.
Time to hunker down.

I think Johan Goldberg said it best today:
It is a wonderful thing to have the first African-American president. It is a wonderful thing that in a country where feelings are so intense that power can be transferred so peacefully. Let us hope that the Obama his most dedicated — and most sensible! — fans see turns out to be the real Obama. Let us hope that Obama succeeds and becomes a great president, for all the right reasons.
I’ll be praying for President-Elect Obama just as hard as I’ve prayed for George W. Bush.

I have to admit I was wrong.
I thought, for sure, a war hero with years of executive experience would easily beat out an inexperienced socialist that loves to kibbitz with terrorists? Foolish me.
I guess the perfect storm that was the financial crisis was an obstacle McCain couldn’t overcome.
Any bets as to when America’s buyers remorse will set in? I predict the Obama presidency makes Jimmy Carter look competent.

Racism in America is dead. This is a joyous moment. No more Affirmative Action. No more set asides. No more minority provisions in government contracts. Do away with the minority business alliances and special status groups that exist solely to promote non-white racial groups. What a happy day this is. Wait……this means that Jesse Jackson and the rest of the race industry are officially out of a job. What will they do now? Morton Downey’s show is dead, and Sharpton now has to compete with the most merciful Messiah for face time on TV. He won’t allow that, will he?

Turning to the nature of our higher angels…
It is stunning the light-speed transformation which has taken grasp of the world overnight. In watching the events taking place with our cousins across the pond in the House of Commons the right honorable members seem more readily available to enact the policy measures of our President elect than the policies of their own right honorable gentleman, the Prime Minister of the UK.
A new dawn in America: An old world smitten by its rays?

I am very proud for Obama and I wish his grandmother could have seen this day. I hope he stays in the “middle” as he campaigned. I don’t think that he will. Actions speak louder than words. I too think that affirmative action, NAACP and any other programs that are geared towards giving one person or group an advantage simply because of color should be dismantled and never again to be. I wonder what Jesse Jackson will now do?

Racism and the Berlin Wall
Like Berlin, there will be rejoicing over the breach. But a leaner, meaner, more sinister Russia emerged after Berlin, with the same nuclear clout.
Racism will still enable lesser men to rise to the level of their incompetence over more qualified “lesser” men.
Racism will retrench in stealth, cloaked in tradition, and stoked by fear. Look for more secessionist talk, especially from the aryan brotherhood and white supremicists, who used to appear on Oprah. They’ve been awfully quiet lately.
Part of the problem is that the USA that Obama inherits will be a rifled shell of what it once was. Bush crooks and cronies searched all the nooks and crannies for any untook pennies in fear that we’ll book nannies.
We’re broke. The conservatives handed over the country in the same financial condition that the Confederacy handed over the South in 1865.

Now, maybe more jobs can be created and Americans who have been unemployed for a long time can finally get some work.
Maybe Obama can stop illegals from getting jobs while any American is still unemployed.
Maybe the job market can do away with the two job listings, one for regular employment and one for diverse employment. What in the world is diverse? Everybody is different. Guess this is going back to the two water fountains and restrooms (regular and diverse). The employment market that offers these two categories are aiming to discriminate. Maybe they will no longer be allowed to ask for race and gender on applications, and they STILL ask for this.
Finally, maybe the Americans who are here legally can be referred to as Americans. This means EVERY American and not have a separate group that calls themselves African American. This term segregates people and it discriminates against half of the true African Americans who happen to be white. The segregated term African American really needs to be outlawed. Obama, himself is half white.

Racism is now finished, just by the comments above it is alive and well. When Lincoln freed the slaves, I’m sure the woodchucks said racism is dead. When the Civil Rights and Voting Acts passed in the sixites the Rednecks said racism is dead. Some fools feel that racism comes from the dictates of Washington? Racism cannot be legislatated, it’s in a persons heart.

I do wish I had the article I e-mailed Rick a good while back on affirmative action. I’m going to look around maybe I’ll find it.
The intended beneficiaries of affirmative action in the United States include disadvantaged ethnic minorities, women, people with disabilities, and veterans.
Want some intelligence brought to this topic, then talk about the actual problems instead of creating a bigger one by using discrimination to fight discrimination: Like equal pay for equal work, addressing poverty instead of ethnicity, skin color or sexual preference and most importantly enforce the laws already on the books which would go along way to resolve all these items and many others.
This is one case where fighting fire with fire simply consumes everyone or at best we all walk away smelling of smoke.

MHS, nice attempt to blame the Unions, the reality is that majority of lawsuits that resulted in millions of dollars in payouts, were made by women, all non-Union. Both people with disabilities, and veterans have filed and won millions in the Federal Courts.
You present a very narrow view of what affirrmtaive action covers and provide a link that addresses, a very narrow viewpoint.
As far as Unions, it was and in many cases still is a father-son trade. I find no fault with the system, the same happens in non-Union work places.

Underwhelmed needs to change his underwear.
On election day, at 3PM, I was sitting in my car outside northside hospital waiting for my wife to get her wig, which she needed because all her hair fell out during chemotherapy.
I saw a young black female about 18 maybe less, get out of a red Explorer. Her mother was being wheeled out of the hospital with a new baby. Her dad got out and helped his wife into the Suv. While he was doing that, this black female walked around to the rear of the Explorer, and, noticing the dirty rear window, wrote “Obama” with her index finger. She then turned around, her face flush with the pride of her accomplishment, and clapped her hands clean of the dirt from the glass, and what I observed was total confidence in an Obama victory. It was like getting inside info. I knew then, at 3pm that Obama would win, and I was as certain as she.
My wife’s wig looks like Katie Courik’s new do.

I didn’t blame any such thing BW, I didn’t write the article. But there is truth in the fact unions have used their own firebrand version of Affirmative Action to keep people you would call a minority from ever entering a trade. And your wonderful unions are well known to be nothing more in reality than another DNC PAC.

Is what you bring up not one of the things I mentioned previously in the fact of ENFORCE THE LAWS ON THE BOOKS. Enforcing laws is not affirmative action. That is plain old justice as it should be, though, far too often it is not served.
If affirmative acts take place no other actions will be needed: Equal pay for equal work, address poverty in the things that produce it, and above all enforce the law.

Tom Becker, you’re naive and a fool. If you think the Republicans alone are repsonsible for this mess, guess again. This has been in the works for more than thirty years. After the stock market crash in 1987, voices were raised back then about the amount of debt being incurred by Washington. It’s been ignored ever since. The Clinton administration balanced the budget with the help of an unexpected technology boom that led to lower unemployment and higher tax reciepts from the stock market boom.
The C level executives of FRE and FNM spent millions on lobbyists and donated heavily to the campaigns of Barney Frank and Obama. You can blame the conservatives all you want, but the Democrats share far more of the blame. Just wait until the policies of Pelosi, Reid, Frank and Obama are in place. This country will NEVER recover from them.

All I have to say is the mentality, or lack of, to make it a more accurate and appropriate term, of Red State Georgia is unbelievably remarkable! Racism will always exist heavily down south and most definitely here in Georgia. Affirmative Action, NAACP, ACLU, EEOC could never ever change the inbred beliefs and teachings of racism, hatred and bigotry.
Get a job. Get a job. Get a job? This good old Peachy State of Georgia is an “employee at will” state. A “right to work” state. How many of you guys knew that? I have never in my entire life seen a more evident and profound system of oppression until I came to Georgia. Do you know what this really means? Basically, when you are employed in the state of Georgia, you can be terminated for absolutely no reason at all. NO REASON AT ALL NEEDED TO FIRE YOU AND TAKE AWAY YOUR LIVELIHOOD After they fire you, they want to to challenge your unemployment benefits so you really hit rock bottom pitts. Can someone please enlighten me on this subject because it’s just mind boggling to me. Who would enact such a ridiculous law? Why would this law still be in effect going into 2009? Am I the only person that feels this way? What happened to if you report to work every day, on time, neat and presentable, and do an excellent job, quite possibly better than your co workers you could at least expect some type of job security?? Not here in Georgia!! No reason, good reason, bad reason. It’s all the same here in Georgia. Basically, if you’re not an Uncle Tom, or the “token” you are indispensable.
Georgia has a long long way to come. I understand that some of the ignorant clusters will never understand or agree that minorities are just as free and equal as everyone else in this country, but I do have to say that some of the minorities born here in Georgia, don’t really show or express themselves in an equal manner either.
It would be interesting to hear exactly What the H is the problem here in Georgia, and why are people so far behind the times here?

You just crossed the legal line of the law.
It’s all the same here in Georgia. Basically, if you’re not an Uncle Tom, or the “token” you are indispensable.
That implies the firing relates to someone’s ancestry (and in a derogatory term), in such a case that person, if they can prove it can sue the living bank account right out from under the law breaking employer!
Right to work law is NOT the right to ignore or break other labor laws.
However, the right that would assure legal workers that only legal authorized employment exists in this state, is not in the laws of this state and it should be.

Can you even read the crap you are typing? With your own post, you prove that racism is not dead! In your post you are actually calling on Osama oh I’m sorry Obama to pass discriminatory laws against whites. That is racism. Just because you are black, it is still racism. Of course because you are black you can get away with it! You mention “take what is yours however you can…” Many people in this country have been taking for a long time and it had nothing to do with a black man being president. It did, however, begin with a democrat though! Hopefully, even with a democratic congress, Osama, my bad again, will be held in check (which by the way is what the congress is suppose to do - hold the president in check - of course you weren’t in school that day to learn that one) with the laws he tries to get passed. He cannot just sign a law. The congress makes laws and he signes them into law if they pass each of the houses of congress (again a civics lesson you must have missed). Next time you vote a man into office know what he stands for and as the white man has been accused of doing so many times, don’t just look at his skin color! GOD Bless America! To NOWICUNVME: The groups / ideas you mention in your post: naacp, aclu, eeoc & affirmative action are nothing more than racist policies / groups. To this you can add the uncf. Can I, as a white man, receive money from the uncf? No I can’t! What about historically black universities? Can I get accepted to one even though I am white? Probably not! Are there any colleges that are known as “historically white” colleges? No, because that would be racism! Can I start an organization called the NAAWP? No, again racism! Shouldn’t the aclu change its name to the baclu? black american civil liberties union! When was the last time a lawyer from the aclu took on the case of a white man who was being discriminated against? Never! Also, you mentioned the fact that in Georgia you can get fired for no apparent reason! As you wrote “What happened to if you report to work every day, on time, neat and presentable, and do an excellent job, quite possibly better than your co workers you could at least expect some type of job security?” Somehow, I think most of your friends that are getting fired are not doing as you wrote! What if an employer hires a black guy instead of me, because he simply does not like me?
That is legal and it is the employer’s right.
But if the employers says I didn’t hire that “white guy” because I don’t like him?
Then I got a good case for a law suit. Do I need a union or a lawyer?
What if I’m in a good union and the BA doesn’t like me and never sends me out on a job?
That’s my though luck!
Unions can hurt more than they can help in many cases.
And, the AFL-CIO stopping the issuing of no match letters proves that very fact where they are blocking out legal workers and U.S. citizens from getting jobs the illegal alien unauthorized workers are hired to do in their (the legal workers) place.

No problem understanding why Obama being elected President is personal to blacks, even though he is half white. I’ve seen white guys elected President forever. Blacks have never before now seen one black guy or half black guy elected. Hell I even cried! Why? Because it meant America was finally living up to the high ideals set forth in our Declaration of Independence. Now as I said to a U.S. citizen of Asian ancestry who doubted he would ever see anyone of Asian ancestry elected President, when I say this is America where anything is possible I can even believe it. And prove it!
Maybe one of my great nephews could become President someday.
Only thing I have against Obama is his liberal elitists politics. I just hope the President elect can find the political center. With his first pick of Rumbo and rumors of two Kennedys’: Heaven help us…

Proof positive examples of why if you haven’t experienced any type of racism, or lived it, you could never understand it. All of the organizations mentioned, NAACP, ACLU, EEOC, have never discriminated against any particular group. These organizations were started because racism was still widespread and rampant even after the Civil Rights Movement. When has the advancement of Whites ever been an issue? Moorehouse College and Spellman Colleges do not turn away White applicants. A young white male just graduated from Moorehouse this past May 2008 graduation. The question is, how many whites apply?? These organizations are meant to include everyone, not exclude anyone. That is the difference. Has anyone ever been to a NAACP meeting? There are White members too! Just like the 60% of White voters who voted for Obama. In actuality, the votes didn’t appear to be split by race, they appeared to be split by state. When they showed Times Square in NYC, people crying, people screaming, people listening intently, those faces were practically all White! Why is it that only the White voters for Obama could have voted on the issues and what they believed he could offer this country, but not the Black voters? Obama won because everyone loved Obama. Everyone wanted Change. Just like Michael Jackson, Oprah Winfrey, Will Smith, Michael Jordan etc. etc. etc. Yes, I know they are well known icons but you need to see and understand and realize that when you don’t see color at all, only then can you see the real picture; the real concepts; Color should never be an issue, period. What type of person are they? Are they true to their word? Are they good company to be around? Do they have good morals and ethics? These are the important and relevent issues of a persons true character. Not the color of their skin. I don’t give a hoop and a holler what color you are as long as you treat me with respect and possess at least some of the traits mentioned above.
In that respect, like I said before, Georgia has a long long way to go. Unfortunately, most employers don’t openly discriminate and will never admit it even if they did. Besides, in Georgia you would need and OJ Simpson dream team and money to get a lawyer to take a case without direct proof of discrimination, because Georgia has that outrageous law where it’s legal to fire you if the boss doesn’t like you or the color shirt you wore today. I’m not bluffing either. Do the research. I didn’t believe it myself until I heard it straight out of the mouths of lawyers, DOL workers, and EEOC. If you can’t prove discrimination based on race, ethnicity, age, disability, religion or veteran status, you have no legs to stand on in Peachy Georgia. Now that’s an Abomination.

Where do you get this color blind stuff BW? I embrace every color and I’m not color blind in the least. And, I have better CREEK legs to stand on in this Peachy Georgia than you do from your Michigan tribe. That also gives me plenty of insights on genocide and ethnic discrimination/hatred. Not only me but many of the people that you think to call white who are not Lilies. Many of us are mixed. Very little ethnic purity remains in this country.
Man you are without any doubt the most bigoted guy I’ve ever come across. Georgia nor the South holds any monopoly on discrimination or hate.

Going hard left with his first pick is not a good sign. Is he breaking the olive breach? Makes me re-think the Senate run off entirely. The election is over, commitments were fulfilled, the run-off is a new game and now?

Palin and that towel. I spent all night howling at the moon. My wife locked me out of the house. My neighbor had to turn a hose on me. I had to climb through a window to blog this morning.
I wonder if Sarah fastened the towel in the front or the sides. UC, there’s 2 different types of chicks: front towel fasteners and side fasteners. Now, the front fasteners are the promiscuous ones, because the towel droops slightly at the fasten site, and it’s all cleavage and nips. The side fasteners are the slow cooker chicks, you know the ones you gotta wine and dine and use foreplay on. (and cuddle)
I hate side-fastener chicks. Palin needs to divorce her husband and run away with the Almann Brothers. She wouldn’t be our Veep, or even our queen, then, she’d be our Goddess.
We’d be a Hooterocracy, dedicated to the proposition that Sarah Palin’s a babe.

While Blubbering Badie Pontificates….
Today’s Illegal Immigrant News:
Suspect identified in home invasion, rape
Police believe Isreal Santiago Hernandez, 38, was part of a three-man crew who burst into a trailer off Buford Highway on Oct. 22, 2007, and forcibly sodomized a Hispanic woman in front of her family, who were bound and held at gunpoint.
The DNA matched Hernandez, who’d been imprisoned in South Carolina on drug trafficking charges after his alleged crimes in Gwinnett.
*But investigators were discouraged to find Hernandez had already been released to immigration officials and deported to Mexico, said Gwinnett police spokesman Cpl. David Schiralli. *

Cindy. Think it through: the war on terror….in the face of illegal mexicans filling up all the empty spaces where the islamic jihad might hide. I want the mexicans here. they are not terrorists. if there was an influx of al queda, the mexicans would spot them immediately, and rip them a new p-hole. (i mean a-hole).
You dont think anything through, Cindy, you just blog to annoy decent folk. Well let me tell you something, Cindito, you mechanical lover, the day you write from your heart, no holds barred, ignoring all the hurt you feel from all the failed relationships that occured after you continually obeyed your boss’s directive to never wear underwear, you know, just in case, well, then that’s the day I’ll respect you.

Tom Turner, U R a fool. Y must everything revolve around race? Because an entire race of human beings walked through history based on their race, and until forty short years ago, were not allowed to vote.
Shame on you for being a fool. Now never speak again to anyone about anything, you’re an idiot.

I’m definitely against granting amnesty and this phony so-called creating of an earned pathway to citizenship.
The people who have waited for years, obeyed all the laws, came legally, worked hard to become Americans, i.e. things like learn English, speak English, engross themselves in American culture and naturalize have earned U.S. citizenship by taking the only pathway that should ever exist. The legal one.
I disagree with our President elect on this issue very strongly. The illegal aliens (regardless of their nationality) should be compelled to return home and begin the legal process to get on the legal pathway “back there” in their home country and get in the back of the line if they want to become U.S. Citizens - with no special promises made to them that they will receive any preferential treatment or any expedited status to receive a visa and return to this country.
If there is any need to feel compassion, to give charity, then let such heartfelt needs begin at home, with U.S. citizens expatriated from the economy of their own country.

This generation of whites had nothing to do with lynching blacks. So why are blacks still using it as a crutch? You can’t change the past, so get over it…

MHS, try reading Supreme Court case, 443 U.S. 193
United Steelworkers of America, AFL-CIO-CLC v. Weber
Where the Union fought for equal rights for all of it’s members because Blacks were not being treated equally.
My point in the begining was to educate some of these Yahoo’s that affirmative action effects many groups, not just Blacks.
We could spend days discussing the issue because it covers such a wide range of groups. But things to do, places to go.

BW you haven’t brought-up anything new to talk about. I’m well aware of what Affirmative Action has done pro or con. Discrimination used to fight discrimination is not the answer. Those thoughts including references underpinning them were posted. No further need to discuss the point. We disagree.
Since reiteration is in vogue:
The AFL - CIO lost all credibility in stopping no match letters, in affect preventing the law from being enforced on illegal alien unauthorized workers which negatively impacted the employment and income of every legal worker in this country, the AFL - CIO pretends to represent.
No need to discussion unions any further. We disagree.

So, now we find that obama’s first hire was a guy who had his hand in the mortgage cookie jar.
“President-elect Barack Obama’s newly appointed chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel, served on the board of directors of the federal mortgage firm Freddie Mac at a time when scandal was brewing at the troubled agency and the board failed to spot “red flags,” according to government reports reviewed by ABCNews.com.”
“According to a complaint later filed by the Securities and Exchange Commission, Freddie Mac, known formally as the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation, misreported profits by billions of dollars in order to deceive investors between the years 2000 and 2002.”
So much for “change we can believe in.”
