SESSION’S END SOON?

The General Assembly could end its work in April, months earlier than planned.
Senate Majority Leader Chip Rogers (R-Woodstock) said Monday it’s possible to end the session in April, rather than in June, now that lawmakers have a better handle on the budget and how much stimulus money may come to Georgia.
The decision depends on the health of state revenue estimates expected out in the next week. The House would have to agree to any change.
The Legislature is scheduled to work until March 25 and take a break until the last week of June. Legislators had planned to give themselves the extra time to learn what painful post-stimulus budget cuts would have to be made as the state faces a $2 billion hole in the budget.
