KSU gets grant for news center

Kennesaw State University was awarded a $1.5 million grant from the Harnisch Foundation to start the Center for Sustainable Journalism. The grant was announced Saturday at SoCon09, a social media conference at the university.

Leonard Witt, a Kennesaw State University professor and blogger at PJnet.org, will run the center. Its goals will be to research and develop ways to produce and distribute news. Witt said he already is working on projects focusing on whether communities will pay for journalists.
