BITES: Breakfast bagel features hand-picked ingredientsFor the Journal-Constitution
Published on: 07/25/08
> GOTTA HAVE: Bagel with egg, cheese and ham
> SERVED BY: Deli-Boy
> WHERE: 3370 Sugarloaf Pkwy., Lawrenceville 30044
> COST: $3.99 ($2.95 without meat)
> HOW IT'S MADE: For this breakfast goodie, fried egg, ham and melted provolone cheese fill a fresh bagel. (We chose plain, but an "everything" bagel is an option as well.) "It's hard to find decent bagels and breakfast down South," said owner Tom Carco, who is from New York. The bagels aren't made in-house, but Carco said he hand-picks the suppliers, just as he does with other ingredients. Meat options include ham, bacon and turkey; for cheese, it's a choice of Swiss, provolone, American and mozzarella.
> BACK STORY: Deli-Boy has had its Lawrenceville location for five years, dishing up deli sandwiches, salads and more and doing a strong catering business, too. Earlier this year, Carco closed its Duluth location, which had been open 15 years.
> HOURS: 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Mondays-Saturdays, closed Sundays.
