Emilie Burger of Hoschton has qualified for the U.S. Girls Junior Championship, which will be played July 21-26 in Hartford, Conn.
Burger earned medalist honors in a qualifier in Midlothian, Va., posting a score of 70.
She is one of four Georgians to earn spots in the field, including Mariah Stackhouse of Riverdale, who was the medalist in the Atlanta area qualifier at Braelinn in Peachtree City.
Stackhouse and Burger will be among the players attempting to qualify for the U.S. Women's Amateur on Monday, with Roswell's Horseshoe Bend the site of the Atlanta area qualifier.
AJGA winners
A number of Gwinnett golfers won their age group divisions in recent Atlanta Junior Golf Association tournaments.
> At The Oaks: John Hall of Lilburn shot 73 to win the boys age 15-18 open division. He previously won an AJGA event at Hard Labor Creek State Park. Chris Raasch of Norcross shot 77 to win boys 13-14 club.
> At Royal Lakes: Landon Hoffman of Duluth shot 78 to win in boys 13-14 club. He previously won his division at Towne Lake Hills.
> At Berkeley Hills: Patrick Hilton of Lawrenceville shot 84 to win boys 13-14 club, Austin Putnam of Duluth shot 85 to win 15-18 club, and Daniel Goekel of Duluth was the 13-over club winner with a 9-hole score of 42. He previously won at the Chimneys.
> At Dunwoody Country Club: Charles Huntzinger of Duluth shot 42 to win the 9-hole boys 12-under open, his second win of the season. Kayley Marschke of Suwanee won for the third time in three starts, shooting 41 to win the 9-hole girls open.
> At Southland: Joel Rapkin of Grayson shot 79 to win boys 15-18 club; Peter Kim of Lilburn shot 76 to win boys 15-18 open.
> At Providence Club: Drake Mayhew of Buford won for the second time in boys 9-hole, 13-over club with a 40.
> At Country Club of Roswell: Ryan Trocchio of Norcross won boys 15-18 open with a 76.
> At Brookfield: Bailey Ulp of Suwanee won boys 12-under open with an 81.
Flint's 64 wins Walton
Murray Flint of Dacula shot a 64 to win the boys 16-18 division of the annual Walton Junior Classic, played at the Providence Club. Taylor Gary of Commerce was second with a 67.
Emerson Newsome of Dacula shot 70 to win the 14-15 division by one stroke over Harrison Elliott of Dacula.
Other age group winners were: Nathan Mallonee, Lexington, 38, boys 12-13; Parker Pearson, Atlanta, boys 10-11; Jeremy Wood, Loganville, boys 9-under in a playoff over Drew Galloway of Loganville; Kayla Kelly, Conyers, 82, girls 13-18; Katelyn Grider, Statham, girls 10-12.
Witcher 11th at Dogwood
Duluth's Brent Witcher, who plays on the golf team at Valdosta State, was a contender for three rounds at last week's Dogwood Invitational at Druid Hills Golf Club before falling back the final day.
Witcher opened with rounds of 68-67-68 and was just three strokes off the lead after 54 holes, but shot 74 the final round and ended up in 11th place at 277.
Rory Hie, who plays on the golf team at Southern Cal, shot a final round of 62, including birdies on his final six holes, to win the tournament with a 21-under-par 267 total after trailing by five strokes after 54 holes.
