> GOTTA HAVE: Strawberry frozen yogurt with fresh strawberries

> SERVED BY: Tutti Frutti

> WHERE: 3350 Buford Drive, Suite A-130, Buford 30519

> COST: 35 cents an ounce

> HOW IT'S MADE: Tutti Frutti's self-serve setup allows customers to take control of portion sizes, which works perfectly for us after a filling meal left little room for dessert. Machines toward the back of the store offer eight flavors of yogurt (think pineapple, mango, vanilla, chocolate, peanut butter). The yogurt is shipped from California and mixed in the store, and there's the capability of making 22 flavors. Moving toward the cash register, you can choose from 20 toppings, everything from sliced fruit to candy pieces, and three types of syrups. Since you're paying by the ounce, you can pile on many toppings, since it's all weighed at the register.

> BACK STORY: Sam and Cathy Kim opened Tutti Frutti this spring, joining other concepts in the latest frozen yogurt craze. The family has exclusive East Coast rights and plans to open its next store in Duluth, said John Kim, their son, who designed the fun, fruit-colored store and is involved in the franchise. He said he remembers getting ice cream as a kid and thinking his scoops and toppings were smaller than his siblings'. "I thought, frozen yogurt is a treat, and I want to give customers freedom to do whatever they want to do and freedom to enjoy it instead of being handcuffed by employees," he said.
