The Gwinnett Municipal Association is looking for a good hire.
A new "managing director," to be precise, who would function somewhat like a city administrator for the coalition of the county's 14 member cities.
The new manager would "help coordinate the complex intergovernmental activities of Gwinnett's cities," Berkeley Lake Mayor Lois Salter, chair of the Gwinnett Municipal Association, said in a statement.
That would make Gwinnett's group the first in the state to have a managing director, said Amy Henderson of the Georgia Municipal Association, the group that does the same on a statewide level and will handle interviewing and hiring for the Gwinnett position.
To begin with, Henderson said, there aren't that many county municipal associations in the state.
There are a half-dozen in the metro area, she said, but Gwinnett has more cities than any county in the state.
The position is being advertised on the Georgia Local Government Access Web site (www.glga.org). Starting salary range is $65,000-$75,000. The GMA hopes to have the position filled by Aug. 1.
