TABLE TALK: Eat, drink this weekend for a good causeThree charity events this weekend combine food and fun, all in the name of a good cause. It starts Friday at Great Oaks, 786 Mimosa Blvd., when the Roswell Toast to Children raises funds for Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. From 7 to 11 p.m., guests will sample wines, food and desserts while enjoying a silent auction. Tickets are $65; 404-785-7316; www.choa.org.
On Saturday, George and Toni Ippolito host a fund-raiser for St. Jude Children's Hospital at their Roswell facility, 2270 Holcomb Bridge Road. The evening kicks off at 6 p.m. with food, entertainment, wines, beers and a silent auction. Tickets for the business-casual affair are $75 a person, $125 a couple, and can be reserved by calling the Atlanta St. Jude office at 770-416-7707.
Also on Saturday, don the tux and evening gown and dine in style while benefiting the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The Wine and Roses gala at the Atlanta Athletic Club, 9185 Medlock Bridge Road, starts at 6:30 p.m. with a champagne reception, followed by a sit-down dinner of Spanish specialties, including chicken in basil cream sauce, rosemary garlic shrimp and paella. Wine pairings, dancing and live and silent auctions are also on the menu. Tickets are $200 per person and can be reserved by calling the Foundation, 404-325-6973.
> Instead of sitting in traffic at 6:30 p.m. tonight, join members of the Atlanta Wine Club at the Village Tavern in Alpharetta. They'll be there until 8:30 p.m. for a get-together that includes two glasses of wine and appetizers. Admission is $20. The Tavern is located at 11555 Rainwater Drive; 770-777-6490.
> The folks at Harry's Farmers Market in Roswell want people to think about more than food when they're in the store on Tuesday, so they're hosting two events to encourage customers to get into recycling. The first is a collection of the outdated and unwanted electronic junk that's cluttering up your home. From noon to 5 p.m., haul in the old computer, monitor, printer and keyboard gathering dust in your garage and they'll take it off your hands.
Other electronics you can dump: scanners, floppy disks, circuit boards, hard drives, modems, fax machines, speakers, stereos, answering machines, VCRs, DVD players, typewriters, calculators and telephones. They'll also take TVs, but there's a $10 cash-only fee.
Kids can pick up some practical info on recycling during a 3:30 p.m. workshop with games and prizes. For details on both events, call Harry's, 1180 Upper Hembree Road, at 770-664-6300.
