BASEBALL: BROOKWOOD
The Broncos used two grand slams to beat Greenbrier 16-1 and improve to 9-1 on the season. Winning pitcher Chase Hawkins (4-0) allowed one run and four hits with four strikeouts over four innings. Jordan Erisman went 2-for-2 with a grand slam, Grayson Flack went 2-for-3 with a grand slam, Ryan Lewis went 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs, Ronnie Freeman went 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Hawkins went 2-for-2.
BUFORD
The Wolves beat host Cross Keys 16-0 in three innings in a weekend 6-AA game. Buford is 6-4, 2-1 in region. Winning pitcher Andy Kellogg went two innings with one strikeout, and Corey Hannah pitched the final inning. Both senior pitchers held Cross Keys without a hit. Offensively, Will Bowers went 2-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs, Andy Plott was 1-for-3 with two RBIs and Eric Eck went 1-for-2 with an RBI.
GAC
The Spartans defeated visiting Paideia 12-2 in a game that was completed in five innings. Pitcher Stephen Pepper had eight strikeouts and allowed four hits and one run and also had four RBIs as a hitter. Patrick Savage went 3-for-3 with two triples and two RBIs for GAC (6-1, 2-0 in 6-AA), while Michael Hoeft went 2-for-3 with an RBI.
SOCCER: PARKVIEW
Parkview's girls beat Mauldin, S.C., 2-1 in Greenville on Saturday. The first Panther goal was by Morgan Mitchell on an assist from Megan Geiger. Ginny Leviton scored the winning goal with an assist by Kristina Pascutti. Parkview is 11-0, 3-0 in 8-AAAAA.
The Panther boys won two matches against a pair of South Carolina teams over the weekend. In the first game, Parkview defeated Wren 2-0 as junior forward Kofi Gyawu had both goals. Goalkeeper Daniel Bullock kept a clean sheet in the win. In the second match, Parkview came back to defeat Mauldin 3-2. Brad Boone had the winning score on an assist from forward Zack Spicher. Also scoring goals were Gyawu and Nathan Post.
GIRLS TENNIS: DACULA
Dacula won 3-2 over Winder-Barrow. Falcons winners were Mariel Herrera (No. 1 singles), Caitlin Hosford (No. 2 singles), and Holly Knight and Stephanie Weeden (No. 1 doubles). In their second set of weekend matches, Dacula swept host Clarke Central 5-0. Winners were Herrera (No. 1 singles), Hosford (No. 2 singles), Maggie Bevil (No. 3 singles), Knight and Weeden (No. 1 doubles), and Paige Carver and Abby Crowe (No. 2 doubles). Dacula is 8-3, 8-0 in 8-AAAA.
