Girl, 4, drowns at Lake Lanier

A 4-year-old girl drowned today in at Lake Lanier while out with her family, according to Cpl. Eric Sanders of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.

The girl, whose name has not yet been released, was out in what Sanders identifies as a non-swimming area near the Buford Dam around 2 p.m. when she drifted off by herself and went under.

“A man, riding along on his Jet-Ski, jumped in, found her and pulled her up,” said Sanders.
