Decatur man drowns in Lake Allatoona

A Decatur man drowned Saturday at Lake Allatoona in Bartow County, authorities said.

The Department of Natural Resources told WAGA TV Saturday that 28-year-old Marcus McDonald was an Army Reservist.

McDonald was swimming off the U.S. Army Recreation Center beach when he disappeared just after 3 p.m., Bartow County fire Battalion Chief Bryan Keeling said.

Divers found this body just before 6 p.m., Keeling said.

This was the second fatal drowning this weekend from the Bartow County side of the lake, Keeling said.

Another man drowned Friday evening, and was found by friends and family, he said.
