Rain to start off week for metro Atlanta

Bad weather skipped the Fourth of July but rainfall moved into parts of the Atlanta area this afternoon and could continue tonight and tomorrow.

Thunderstorms are expected across north and central Georgia this evening. A few storms in central Georgia may become severe.

The primary hazards from thunderstorms this evening are frequent lightning and damaging winds up to 60 or 70 mph, with some small hail possible.

The low tonight will be around 70 with a 60 percent chance of rain.

Showers and thunderstorms will remain likely tomorrow and tomorrow evening.
