Woman hurt as police chase ends in 5-car wreck

A police chase ended Wednesday afternoon in southwest Atlanta with a five-car wreck that injured one woman, authorities said.

This is a second car that was damaged, police said.

Police attempted to stop a white SUV at Fulton and Formwalt streets shortly before 3:30 p.m., Atlanta Police spokesman Eric Schwartz said.

“The vehicle refused to stop,” Schwartz said.

Officers chased the white Dodge Durango that minutes later became involved in a collision with four other vehicles at Ralph David Abernathy and Joseph E. Lowery boulevards, witnesses said.

A middle-aged woman was injured and taken to a nearby hospital, Schwartz said.

Police arrested three youths riding in the Durango, but a fourth youth fled the scene, witnesses said.
