Children’s Healthcare scores high in magazine ranking

Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta has once again been ranked among the nation’s top pediatric hospitals by U.S. News & World Report. The 2009 edition of “America’s Best Children’s Hospitals” is published online at and will be featured in the August issue of U.S. News & World Report, available on newsstands Tuesday, July 21.

Two specialty areas at Children’s are ranked among the top 10 in the nation—orthopaedics (No. 5) and heart/heart surgery (No. 7). In addition, three specialty areas at Children’s ranked among the top 20 in the nation—cancer (No. 12), digestive disorders(No. 12), respiratory disorders (No. 17) and urology (No. 18).

In the 2009 edition of “America’s Best Children’s Hospitals,” hospitals are ranked in 10 specialty areas—including: cancer, diabetes and endocrine disorders, digestive disorders, heart and heart surgery, kidney disorders, neonatal care, neurology and neurosurgery, orthopedics, respiratory disorders and urology.

Nearly 100 pediatric facilities responded to the 65-page survey, which asked for detailed data and statistics.
