Head-on crash with ambulance injures 2
Associated Press
Tuesday, April 21, 2009
A man and woman are in the hospital after an ambulance crossed the center line on a Carrollton road and hit a truck head-on.
Georgia State Patrol Lt. Paul Cosper said Josh Chatman of Carrollton and 52-year-old West Georgia Ambulance driver Cindy Reese were airlifted to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta after Monday’s accident. Cosper said Reese was driving a non-emergency ambulance bus when she swerved onto the shoulder, overcorrected and veered into oncoming traffic where she hit Chatman’s truck.
Authorities said Reese was on duty but did not have patients in the ambulance.
Grady spokeswoman Denise Simpson said Reese is in critical but stable condition. She declined to give Chatman’s status at the request of family members.
Cosper said charges are pending against Reese.
