SCHOOL VACCINATION COMPLIANCE

All Georgia schools are required to be 100 percent in compliance with the state vaccination law before their kindergarten and sixth-grade classes are audited at the start of each school year. But many aren't.


Here are the results of the 2008-09 audits, which were done in fall 2008. Many schools say their results improve over the course of the school year.


Public and private schools in Fulton County, which includes Atlanta Public Schools, are not provided. The AJC identified numerous errors in the data provided to state health officials by the Fulton County Department of Health and Wellness. Despite repeated efforts over several weeks, the AJC was unable to obtain accurate data from the county health department.
