Ex-official accused of fraud in Savannah fund

SAVANNAH — A former accounting manager of the Historic Savannah Foundation has been accused of defrauding the non-profit organization of $74,000.

U.S. Attorney Edmund Booth said Wednesday that 53-year-old James Walter Boston of Savannah is charged in a 59-count indictment with bank fraud and access device fraud.

Booth says a federal grand jury accused Boston of writing checks and making wire transfers from the foundation’s general operating account to his personal bank account from May 2 to Dec 23.

The prosecutor says Boston had an initial appearance in federal court Wednesday and was released on bond.
