Coweta County authorities Monday were investigating the death of a 54-year-old woman found Sunday evening at a home in an upscale Sharpsburg neighborhood.
Alec McNaughton called 911 shortly after 7:30 p.m. Sunday to report that his wife, Cathy Mendenhall McNaughton, was unresponsive and bleeding, Coweta Sheriff Mike Yeager said.
Yeager said that while the cause of Cathy McNaughton’s death had not been determined Monday afternoon, his office was investigating the case as a homicide.
There was no forced entry to the home on Portage Lane in the French Village subdivision, and nothing had been taken, Yeager said.
Asked whether the victim’s husband was a suspect in her death, the sheriff said Monday that Alec McNaughton “remains a person of interest, even after extensive interviews with us and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.”
Alec McNaughton, 60, is a former director of attorney recruitment for Cambridge Partners, an Atlanta legal search and staffing firm.
Neighbors told WSB-TV that Cathy McNaughton formerly worked for Delta Air Lines.
