Is your school inflating grades?

Grading practices at metro Atlanta schools vary widely, according to recently released data, part of a study looking at how well high school students' classroom grades matched up with their scores on 2007 End of Course Tests.

Study: Students fail state tests, still get As

The study found that, statewide, students scored lower on the tests than on classroom work, which could signal grade inflation. In some cases, the gap was startling.

The Governor's Office of Student Achievement released the study and commissioned the analysis from Chris Clark, a Georgia College & State University economics professor.

Some high schools had few students take the state test in a given subject. Results were omitted when fewer than 10 students took the test.
