The oldest people in the world

Ever wonder who is the oldest verified living person in the world? It is none other than 114-year-old Gertrude Baines. Baines was born in Georgia on April 6, 1894.

The Gerontology Research Group (GRG) keeps a worldwide verified list of living supercentenarians; those 110 or older. While there's certainly more people older than 110 than on this list, these claims are all verified by the GRG's staff.

Thirty-two of the 88 verified supercentenarians were born in the United States. Japan is second with 25. Nine of the 88 supercentenarians were born in Italy, good for third. Ninty two percent of the world's oldest list are female.

The majority of the oldest list are White or Caucasian.
