YOUNGSTOWN, Fla. — A former small-town Georgia mayor was arrested in the Florida Panhandle for driving the getaway car in a bank robbery, police said.
Terry Musgrove in 1979 became one of the country’s youngest mayors. He won with a 13-vote margin in the South Georgia town of Newton before his 20th birthday.
Musgrove, 48, has since faced legal trouble. He resigned the mayorship in 1985 after pleading guilty to distributing a small amount of cocaine to undercover agents. He was also convicted in the past decade on several drug and theft crimes in Georgia.
Musgrove and his brother reportedly robbed a north Florida bank Tuesday before leading authorities on a 100-mph chase, police said.
