Police: Body found in woods had been shot

WINDER — Coroner David Crosby says he believes the body found behind a vacant house in Barrow County was that of a man who had been shot.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said two people walking in woods found the body about dusk on Sunday, 40 to 50 yards behind the house.

Investigators could not identify the victim but took fingerprints hoping they might match those of a missing person.

Sheriff’s investigators and GBI agents were unable to determine the person’s gender, age or race. Crosby said the bone structure seems to indicate the remains belonged to a man.
