Metro Atlantans can expect seasonably chilly temperatures Monday, with a freeze warning in effect overnight.
The warning, which will be in effect from 3 to 8 a.m., means temperatures may drop low enough to threaten certain outdoor plants.
With winds diminishing, temperatures are expected to drop to or below freezing over much of North Georgia. The freeze warning extends from the mountains south to LaGrange and east to Gainesville.
It likely won’t be the last freeze warning the National Weather Service issues this week.
A passing cold front could bring more freezing temperatures Monday night into Tuesday morning, according to the Weather Service. Tuesday afternoon won’t be much warmer, with a high of 48 predicted.
Lows through the week are expected to remain at or below freezing. High temperatures will gradually warm as the week progresses, reaching 57 on Thursday.
No rain is anticipated.
