The acting mayor of Warner Robins, Clifford Holmes, says it’s only natural his middle Georgia community would be picked by BusinessWeek as Georgia’s top city for raising a family.

Holmes says the school system is second to none and has worked hard at attracting the best teachers. Holmes also credits Robins Air Force Base for creating a city where many can make a decent living.

The magazine chose Warner Robins, with a population of about 65,000, for its list of cities across the country considered the best, most affordable places for raising children. Athens and Marietta were runners-up in the issue that hit the streets Monday.

BusinessWeek top pick overall was Mount Prospect, Ill., a Chicago suburb of 56,000.
