Freeze warning in effect for N. Georgia

The National Weather Service has posted a freeze warning for north Georgia.

Forecasters predict pockets of freezing temperatures early Tuesday north of a line from LaGrange to Gainesville, including the cities of Rome, Atlanta, Lawrenceville, Conyers and Griffin.

A freeze watch remains in effect from late Tuesday night through Wednesday morning for all of north and central Georgia behind a cold front that moved through the state Monday.

A freeze warning means freezing temperatures are forecast, threatening outdoor plants. A freeze watch means conditions are favorable for freezing temperatures to develop.

Atlanta’s normal high for late October is around 70 degrees, with lows normally in the upper 40s.
