A Tennessee man was out on bond Wednesday after Atlanta police say he assaulted an officer at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
Bradley Sorman of Jackson, Tenn., was in town on business Monday with his wife, Tamara, when he got into an altercation with a skycap along the north terminal curb, according to Atlanta police and airport officials.
“The skycap called police to assist in the situation,” said airport spokesman John Kennedy. “The officer arrived, and amongst what was going on, he was pushed by the passenger.”
Sorman was arrested for simple assault on a police officer and obstruction, Kennedy said. Sorman posted $10,000 bond Tuesday, according to Clayton County Jail records.
Several attempts to reach Bradley and Tamara Sorman Wednesday were unsuccsessful.
Tamara Sorman told WSB-TV her husband has neurological disease similar to Lou Gehrig’s Disease and can barely move his arms.
“There were about four witnesses to this incident,” Atlanta police Maj. Shawn Jones told the TV station, which, like The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, is owned by Cox Enterprises. “The traveler bumped the officer twice.”
Tamara Sorman claims her husband can barely move his arms because of his disability.
“My husband didn’t bump anybody, couldn’t bump anybody,” she told WSB-TV.
Airport surveillance cameras captured a portion of the arrest, but the officer and Bradley Sorman were out of view of the camera in the moments before the officer put the man on the ground and handcuffed him, Kennedy said.
