Rain dampens N. Georgia

Commuters braved a damp commute Wednesday, though not as wet as originally hoped.
National Weather Service forecaster Brian Lynn adjusted original predictions of two inches and said the slow-moving front will probably bring no more than an inch of rainfall.
The rain’s not expected to be heavy, though it should hang around for much of Wednesday afternoon. Forecasters predict an 80 percent chance of rain through the day, dropping to 40 percent by nightfall. On Thursday the chance of showers drops to 20 percent.
Atlanta will take anything at this point. The last measurable precipitation at the city’s official rain gauge at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport was a mere .01 inch on Sept. 12, according to the Weather Service.
So far this year, Atlanta has recorded 30.92 inches of rain, which is 8.91 inches below average.
Highs are expected to reach the upper 60s Wednesday. Temperatures will return to the mid-70s on Thursday, nearing 80 through the weekend. No additional rainfall is predicted.
