Mortality rates at Georgia hospitals

The U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) analyzed mortality rates for heart attacks, heart failure and pneumonia for hospitals across the nation.

Mortality rates are shown with a low-end estimate, high-end estimate and most probable estimate. This is so the CMS can say with 95% confidence that the hospital's mortality range falls in that range.

Hospitals are rated as better than or worse than the national average if the low-end to high-end estimate range lies completely below or above the national estimate.

Search the database below to see how 129 Georgia hospitals rated as well as national mortality rates.

The mortality rate is for all deaths of heart attack, heart failure and pneumonia within 30 days of being admitted to the hospital.

Enter a hospital name or select a county from the drop-down menu.

All Medicare beneficiaries aged 65 or older who were enrolled in Original Medicare (traditional fee-for-service Medicare) for the entire 12 months prior to their hospital admission for heart attack or heart failure or pneumonia, and for whom complete administrative data for that 12-month period are available, are included in the model.
