A former teacher at a Powder Springs Christian school has been charged with having sex with a 14-year-old boy, Paulding County authorities said Wednesday.

Holly Michelle Barnes, 24, was charged Tuesday night with two counts of statutory rape and two counts of child molestation, said Cpl. Brandon Gurley, a spokesman for the county sheriff’s office. Barnes was later also charged with one count of Aggravated Child Molestation. No new victims had come forward by Thursday morning.

Barnes, whose bond is now set at $13,950, is a former teacher at the Grace Baptist Church and Christian School, Gurley said.

He declined to say whether the alleged incidents occurred at the church or school and whether the boy was a student or a member of the congregation.

“There is an underlying connection, but we are not releasing the details at this time,” he said.

Church and school officials could not be reached immediately for comment.
