Also, of the three seats on the Court of Appeals up for election in November, only one will be contested.

Six attorneys qualified to compete for the seat currently held by Judge John H. Ruffin Jr., who is retiring.

Qualifying for all nonpartisan races ended Friday.

Tamela L. Adkins of Suwanee was the sixth and final candidate to file paperwork with the Secretary of State's office to qualify for the appeals court race. She will be joined on the ballot by former Republican state Sen. Perry McGuire of Douglasville, Bruce M. Edenfield of Atlanta, Christopher J. McFadden of Decatur, Mike Sheffield of Lawrenceville and Sen. Michael Meyer von Bremen (D-Albany).

Sheffield, a criminal defense lawyer, ran for a seat on the appellate court four years ago in a race won by Judge Debra Bernes.

Incumbent Appeals Court judges Gary Andrews and Charles B. Mikell Jr. will be unopposed in November.
