A weak earthquake shook parts of northwest Georgia Monday evening, but there were no reports of damage.
According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the 2.8-magnitude quake was centered about 13 miles northeast of Dalton, and about 85 miles northwest of Atlanta.

As of daybreak Tuesday, the USGS had only received two reports from residents who felt the 7:30 p.m. earthquake.
Five years ago, a mild earthquake measuring 4.9 magnitude and centered near Fort Payne, Ala., was felt throughout North Georgia, including in metro Atlanta.
