Storms expected across metro area through Thursday

On the heels of Sunday's severe weather and tornadoes, forecasters are predicting a slight chance of severe storms to punctuate the rain and thunderstorms expected Thursday in the Atlanta area.

The National Weather Service reports that the chance of showers and thunderstorms across metro Atlanta will be 70 percent on Thursday, forecasters said.

The system is expected to move into the metro area late Thursday morning, and a chance of storms will continue throughout the evening commute.

Friday will be mostly cloudy, with a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms and highs in the upper 70s.

The weekend outlook calls for mostly sunny skies on Saturday, with highs in the upper 70s and lows in the 50s. Sunday will be partly sunny, with a 20 percent chance of showers and highs again in the upper 70s.
